I was watching the documentary Earthlings and then a section about animals being used in entertainment appeared. I am talking mainly about circuses.
Did you know that the animals are chained for 95% of the time and they perform tricks, not because of the positive incentives and rewards like many claim and believe, but rather from the fear of punishment? If they do not subside to being tamed and rather stick to their NATURAL wild side, they are put in cages just about their size where they get no attention and absolutely no exercise. They are made to suffer extreme distress as they do not live in their natural habitat and are way too close to humans and their crazy world than they should be. They start hurting themselves–toiling back and forth, acting more and more hostile. You know how they are dealt with? THEY ARE BEATEN inhumanely until they are too tired to even defend themselves and just give in….this is what you approve of when you pay for a circus ticket. I really recommend that you watch the whole documentary!!
